James Eborn

September 8, 1946 — July 14, 2015

James Arthur Eborn passed away July 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born September 8, 1946 in Montpelier, Idaho to Harlan and Agnes Eborn. He was the youngest of six children. He had two older sisters and three older brothers. Jim grew up in Lanark, Idaho on the family farm and loved every minute of it, except milking the cows. He attended schools in Paris, Idaho and graduated from Fielding High School in 1964.

After graduation, Jim worked in Soda Springs until he was drafted by the United States Army in January of 1966. He went to Fort Leonard Wood, MO and then on to Fort Sill, OK. While at Fort Sill, Jim suffered a ruptured appendix, which required him to take leave and return home to Bear Lake to recuperate. While on leave, he proposed to his high school sweetheart, Paula Haddock on May 23, 1966. Upon return to Fort Sill, Jim was sent to Germany and was there until December 30, 1967, when he completed his service.

Jim and Paula were married in Salt Lake City on March 9, 1968. Jim worked at Big O Tire until they moved to Pocatello in January 1969 so Jim could begin school in the ISU Vo-Tech Electronics Program. Jim attended school from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and then worked at Skaggs Drug until 10 p.m. After graduation, Jim began working for AMI Semiconductors in Pocatello on January 12, 1972.

On April 28, 1973, Jim and Paula took their three children: Troy, Eric, and Nicole to the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple and were sealed for time and all eternity. Three more children then joined their family; Danielle, Ryan and Dane.

Jim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and positively influenced many people. He served in many leadership positions including Ward Clerk, Young Mens President, Scoutmaster, Bishop, High Counselor, Stake Executive Secretary, Counselor in the Bishopric at the Young Single Adult ward at the University, and High Priest Group Leader. He was diligent in his service and a great example to all.

Jim loved riding his horses, taking week-long packing trips, dutch-oven cooking, camping, hunting and spending time with his family whether working or playing. Jim taught his children to be responsible and hard-working.

Jim retired from ON (previously AMI) on January 30, 2015 after 43 years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Paula, six children and their spouses; Troy (Tawna) Eborn, Chubbuck, ID; Eric (Stephanie) Eborn, Pocatello, ID; Nicole (Brandon) Farris, Dubois, WY; Danielle (Tory) Bosworth, Chubbuck, ID; Ryan (Lisa) Eborn, Chubbuck, ID; Dane (Emilee) Eborn, Pocatello, ID; and twenty-one grandchildren who will miss him greatly. Jim is also survived by one sister; Gayle Sorenson of Ovid, Idaho, and two brothers; Byron Eborn of Montpelier, Idaho and Harold Eborn of Clinton, UT.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Afton Roberts) and one brother (J.T. Eborn).

We know that the reunion in Heaven was a grand occasion.

We love you, Dad, and will try to live up to your example and expectations. We know we will see you again.
