Jack Wesley Driever Sr.

Jack Wesley Driever Sr., 81, passed away January 6, 2012 at his home in Grady, New Mexico. He was born August 9, 1930 in Watonga, Oklahoma, a son of Theron Crawford and Alma Edith Wynn Driever. The family moved to the Pocatello area when he was 3 years old. He was raised and attended school in Pocatello.

He married the love of his life, Carol Jane Hone, on June 11, 1949 and they were together over 50 years. They made their home in Pocatello where they raised four children, Jack Jr., Mike, Jody, and Clayne.

He left school to work for the Fort Hall Canal Company, and then worked as a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He joined the Idaho Army National Guard, where he worked full time and retired after 34 years of service.

He enjoyed building and racing stock cars, coaching VFW boxing, camping, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. After retirement he and Carol traveled together full time with friends, always making new friends along the way. They joined the SOWERS, Servants On Wheels Ever Ready, and traveled all over the US working on churches, including a trip to Puerto Rico for Jack. His favorite place to serve was Hope House, a home for abused and neglected children, which became his lifelong charity. They eventually spent winters in Yuma, Arizona where he picked up woodcarving, becoming a master carver and an instructor at the Yuma Citizen's Center. During the summer they traveled to Hells Canyon with friends, visited family, attended the Wynn family reunion and relaxed at Bear Lake. His hands were always busy handcrafting beautiful gifts of wood and metal for family and friends.

He is survived by his son Jack W. Jr. (JJ) Driever of Grady, NM, son Michael E. (Debra) Driever of Pocatello, ID, daughter, Jody L. (Kent) Beam of Meridian, ID, son Clayne T. (Lea) Driever of Boise, ID, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother, Theron R. (Marylou) Driever of Pocatello, ID, sister Wreatha A. Liljenquist of Salt Lake City, UT, mother-in-law Dora Tracy of Salmon, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theron and Alma Driever, wife, Carol Driever, grandson, Wayd Criddle, and brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Carolyn Driever.
