Jack Kenneth Houghton, 81, passed away on October 12, 2023, after spending the day surrounded by family, who had one more day to let him know how loved he was.
He was born in Ogden, Utah to Herbert and Ella M Houghton. Jack was the 4th of 5 children, Evelyn Marie, Carolene, Herbert Paul, and Glen Archie. The family moved to Pocatello in 1947.
Jack graduated from Pocatello High School. He served in the United States Army, spending time in South Korea where he was a staff car driver.
Jack graduated from Idaho State University’s machinist program in 1970. He never married.
He spent years working for Zweigert Meat Packing. When his younger brother, Glen, opened a cabinet shop, he joined him in the business. He worked as a cabinet maker for many years. After he retired from there, he spent many years with his brother, Herb, rebuilding older vehicles. Together, they transformed them into amazing restorations of bygone days. Jack had a great love for rebuilding older cars and pickups, and he was associated with many car clubs. He also enjoyed hunting and family gatherings.
Jack is survived by his sister, Carolene Call of Idaho Falls, Idaho, brothers, Herbert Paul and Glen Archie Houghton of Pocatello, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Evelyn Cobia (sister), and Max Call (brother-in-law).
