Jack Hagar Peterson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the home of his son, from natural causes. Jack was born in Carey, Idaho on January 8, 1923 as Percy Marvin Thimakis to Adonis & Ethel Wilde Thimakis. He was adopted by Albert & Tekla Hagar Peterson on June 29, 1925. His name was later changed to Jack Hagar Peterson. He married Edna S. Peterson on August 31, 1945. They were married for 70 years. Jack lived in Lund, Lava, Pocatello, Cobalt, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, & then moved back to Pocatello where he lived out the remainder of his life. Jack worked many various jobs throughout the years as a tow truck driver & mechanic. He ended his career, through retirement, working as a diesel mechanic at Monroc. He was baptized into the LDS church on May 28, 1933. He held the Melchizedek Priesthood and was endowed in Temple. Jack enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time at the farm in Lava. He enjoyed being Mr. fix-it and lending a helping hand. He loved playing cards with family and friends. He loved his family. He is survived by his daughters, Janet Elmer (Ted), Evanston, WY, Terry Peterson, Pocatello, ID; son, Rod Peterson (Signe), Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Derick Peterson, Idaho Falls, ID, Joshua Eyler, Pocatello, ID, Nicole Van Horn, Pocatello, ID, Sarah Lindoff (David), Idaho Falls, ID, Camille Elmer, Salt Lake City, Jacob Moore (Amber), Butte, MT, Ryan Peterson (Brittney), Pocatello, ID, Jack Casey Elmer, Evanston, WY, Chloe Lemmon, Pocatello, ID; 12 great-grandchildren, Shayla Van Horn, Jacquelyn & Taryn Peterson, Aspen, Jalei, & Chase Lindoff, Malcom, Dakota, Dylan, & Inara Moore, Sophia & Bronsen Elmer. He was preceded in death by his father, Adonis Thimakis; mother, Ethel Wilde Thimakis; mother, Tekla Hagar Peterson James; father, Albert Peterson; wife, Edna S. Peterson; daughter, Tekla Peterson; sisters, Elaine Thimakis, Athena Grove; and brothers, John Thimakis, Earl Barnes, and Basil Thimakis. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 4-6 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11 am at the LDS Chubbuck 6th Ward Church, 13979 W. Siphon Rd. Pocatello, Idaho 83202, with a viewing for one hour prior to the service.
