Jack H. Kolsen

Jack H Kolsen was born on May 3, 1938, in Pingree, Idaho to Gurman Peter and Agnes Hislip Kolsen. He passed away on May 20, 2024, at the age of 86.


Jack attended schools in the Snake River area and graduated from Snake River High School in 1957. He and his twin sister, Joan, were the youngest of 6 children.


Jack and his sweetheart, Betty Ann Brown, started dating as teenagers and were married on December 6, 1958, in Blackfoot, Idaho and spent over 65 years together. Over the first 10 years of marriage, they were blessed with the birth of 6 children – Doug, Terrell, Rod, Rick, Sherri and Jim. Jack and Betty were sealed for time and all eternity with 5 of their children on July 2, 1966, in the Idaho Falls Temple and Jim was born into the covenant in 1968.


Over the years, Jack was a truck driver hauling milk and working at Garrett Freight Lines, Poleline Lumber, and Nation Way Trucking. After retiring from trucking, he worked at Deseret Industries hauling pods by truck until he was 75.


Jack was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many capacities throughout his life.


He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri (Greg) Madson; parents, Gurman Peter Kolsen and Agnes Hislip Kolsen; sisters, Kathlyn Attwood and Joan Kolsen; brothers, Larry Kolsen and Peter Kolsen; and two great grandchildren.


Jack is survived by his sweetheart of 65 years, Betty; sons, Doug (Valorie) Kolsen, Terrell Kolsen, Rod (Kim) Kolsen, Rick Kolsen, Jim (Adria) Kolsen; son in law, Greg Madson; sister, Carol Bitton; 24 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be under the care of Wilks Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at the North Pocatello Stake Center on Whitaker Road in Chubbuck, Idaho. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Graveside services will be held at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery following the luncheon.
