Ivan "Nile" Nelson

Ivan "Nile" Nelson, 78 passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends on July 17, 2018. He is now riding the long winding roads of the sky on his motorcycle.

Nile was born October 28, 1939 to Ivan and Joey (Hunsaker) Nelson in Castle Dale, Utah. The family lived in Victor, Idaho before moving to Pocatello, Idaho. He began working on a farm then moved on to a potato plant. He then accepted a job at J.R. Simplot, where he spent 35 years working until he retired.

Nile met and married the love of his life, Jane York in 1964. They lived 54 wonderful years together and had two beautiful daughters.

Nile enjoyed riding motorcycles and camping. He also enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren; riding bicycles and playing with them. He was quite a jokester and enjoyed playing jokes on everyone.

Nile is survived by his sweetheart of 54 years, Jane York Nelson; his two daughters, Jenny Brown (Kurt Jacobsen); Penny (Bob) Hickman; three granddaughters, Kayla Hernandez, Lacey (Jared) Syme, Heather (Derek) Farnsworth; three grandsons, Chace Brown, Darby Nelson, Dillon Hickman; his sister, Lorraine "Tiger" Bloxham; a brother, Bruce (Navidad) Nelson; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nile was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Joey Nelson; one sister; and two brothers.

A viewing and open house will be held from 4-6:00 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
