"I was born in Starr's Ferry Idaho just four miles out of Burley on Jan. 12, 1916 to Ensign Henry Stocking and Isabelle Verena Shields Stocking.
I was one of 6 children Leona, Elizabeth, Lamont, James, Emma and me, the youngest. We had an 80 acre farm and there I learned a great love for Idaho history and the Oregon trail, spending much time at the City of Rocks .
I came to Pocatello after my father passed away to stay with my sister Emma and it was at that time that I met and married my husband Earl C. Carlson. We raised 5 children Joe, Ray, Rod, LesLee and Teresa in our home on Main street. Earl and I worked side by side running Camille's, The Paris, Modern Deb, Mr. C's in Pocatello and the Fashion Bar in Blackfoot. These were very happy times with all the kids helping out at the stores. I always have had a great love for downtown (Old Town) and a highlight for me was being the marshal of the Christmas Parade.
Many of my happiest days where spent up Inman Canyon at our little cabin; fixing fences, planting trees, painting and spending time with the grandkids. Thanks to the Osterling's for keeping an eye on me and my little piece of paradise, many happy memories have been made there." – Isabell Carlson
Mother suffered a stroke in 2010 and has resided at Elegant Living until she passed. She loved her Elegant family and they loved her. She was content and comfortable there with the help and care they gave her.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed in the Idaho Falls temple.
We will miss her silver hair, beautiful face and great spirit. She has taught us all many lessons in life. She was hard working, always grateful for what she had and gave of her time to family. She made each of us know how special we were to her.
She passed away Aug. 30, 2014 at the age of 98, with her 5 children at her side.
We will miss her greatly but we know she is in a better place. She will be reunited with: her husband Earl; parents; brothers; sisters; Grandpa Leonard and Grandma Laura Carlson; and great grandchildren Shay Kai Jensen, Lucie Isabella Jensen, twins Hope and Grace Carlson; and family friend, Carl H. Pixley.
She leaves behind: her children Joe (Melba) Carlson Oren Utah, Ray(Sherma) Carlson Blackfoot Idaho, Rod (Martha) Carlson Hailey Idaho, LesLee (Dennis)Stoddard serving a mission in Pennsylvania and Teresa(Randy) Merica Pocatello; 22 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
Thank you to Dr. Mills, Elegant living, all the nurses and staff that made life easier for her. We are so thankful for each and every one of you.
