Inga Andersen

August 27, 1926 — September 15, 2022

Inga (Schou) Andersen was born in Struer, Ringkobing, Denmark on August 27, 1926, to Christian Sigfred Schou and Elisa Marie (Jespersen) Schou. She lived a full and happy life and passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022, in Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 96. She had an older sister named Rigmor and a younger brother named Egon, both of whom are deceased.

When she was young, she loved swimming and sailing with her family during the summer months and vacationing in Sweden during various other times of the year. Her father raced sailboats and was the Head Traffic Controller for the Danish National Railroad in Copenhagen. When she was 13 years old, Germany invaded Denmark and occupied their country for five years. After the war, she moved to Stockholm, Sweden where she got a job as a Nanny watching over the Count of Sweden's two boys. She taught the boys how to swim and tutored them in their schoolwork.

During that time, she attended a Danish Club where she met Erhardt Dahl Andersen, a fellow Dane who grew up just a few miles north of Struer on the island of Mors in Denmark. He was a Carpenter by trade and was working in Stockholm. They dated, got married, immigrated to Pocatello, Idaho and became US Citizens. He became a successful and well-respected general building contractor.

They had three children: Steven, Elisabeth, and Terri. As a family they all loved to swim, play tennis, and vacation on the Oregon coast. After her children grew up and left home, Inga became a realtor and landlord. She kept her Danish heritage alive by observing the many fun and exciting holiday customs and cooking traditions which have now been passed down through the generations. She had many friends and was a kind and loving mother and grandmother.

Inga was preceded in death by her husband, Erhardt in 1994. Her posterity includes her 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 24th at Mountain View Cemetery located at 1520 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello ID 83205.
