Ina Crystal, 100, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at a local care center. Ina Lydia Jolley Crystal was born November 08, 1917 in Firth, Idaho to John Alma Jolley Jr. and Hanna Eliza Butler Jolley. Ina had 6 brothers and 6 sisters; Delphina, Arnold, Elden, Wendell, Dwayne, Lawrence, Opal, Nina, Dean, Marveline, Doris and Verna Mae. When we spoke with Verna the other day she said that Ina was the best sister ever. Verna remembers staying with Ina quite a bit when she was young. Verna said as children they all worked hard on the family farm anything from milking cows to bringing in the crops. Ina loves her family and had a happy childhood. Ina met the love of her life Elden B. Crystal and they were married on September 29, 1934 in Bingham County, Idaho. They lived in Blackfoot & Pocatello, Idaho, California and Arizona; where ever there was work. About a year later their first and only daughter, Connie Jean was born followed by their three sons, Thomas "Jay", John Elden and Keith Leon. Ina loved her husband and babies more then anything. She was an amazing wife and mother she was always there for her husband and children in good times and bad. Life goes by way too fast and Elden and Inas children soon found the loves of their lives. Connie married Dwaine Watson and together they had a son, Rocky and Patrica Watson of Mackay, ID. After Dwaynes death, Connie married Gene Gabert and gained a daughter Donna Lee and three sons, Allen, Dave and Rick. Jay married Joy Mizera and together they had five children, Cheryl Crystal, Tammy Crystal, both of Pocatello, Idaho, Bart and Lori Lish, Julie and Todd Hawkins, Danny and Shanda Crystal, all of Chubbuck, ID. John married Darlene Bovee and together they had three children, John Crystal Jr., Kevin Crystal of Burley, ID and Lisa Crystal of Boise, ID. Later John married Susan Morehead and gained a son, Sean and Christine Muirgaen of Knoxville, Tennessee. Keith married Karleen Gerke and together they had two children, Katina and Ron Johnson of Pocatello, ID and Kody Crystal. Keith later married Evelyn Griffin and gained three more sons, Mike and Bonnie, Jim and Rod Griffin and four more grandchildren, Zac and Alaetra, Samantha, Tazden and Cody, all of Pocatello, ID. One of Inas favorite life experiences was being a wife, mom and grandma! She was blessed with numerous children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved and cherished each and every one of them. She was so proud of her family. Anytime you would go visit grandma she would go through each of her children and grandchildren to let you know what was going on with them and how thankful she was to be a mother and grandmother. Another of Inas loves was music. She loved playing the piano and was happy to play for us. I remember her playing and singing "How Much is that Doggie in the Window" and so many more. Grandma always wanted her grandchildren to learn to play and she would sit at the piano with us and teach us fun little songs. She would say now you keep practicing. Grandma played the piano every Sunday all around Lava, ID but one of her favorite places to play in Lava was the Chuck Wagon. There is so much musical talent in the family; her kids play piano, guitar, banjo, harmonica and Im pretty sure someone played the accordion. She was so proud of all her family. Keith and Rocky started a band called Country Gold she loved listening to their songs and of course bragging about how good they were. It was always fun to spend time with grandma and grandpa. Every year the whole family would get together for our traditional Christmas Eve party packed with music, singing, dancing and of course lots of good food. Grandma loved dancing as much as she loved music and we all had the best time together. We would sing and dance late into the night. Its a good thing we did it on Christmas Eve that was probably the only way to get all of us to go home. All the grandkids loved spending time at grandmas. Some of our favorite memories were playing in grandmas makeup, trying on her dresses and wigs, yes, this included the boys. We would laugh for hours. She would always tell us that there was a boogie man in the cupboard by the stairs. Probably because she didnt want us dragging everything out. I dont know about the rest of you but I think I believed that story until I got married. Grandma also had a famous saying which was "you scratch my back, Ill scratch yours". We would scratch her back for a few minutes then say my turn; she scratched our backs for hours until we would fall asleep. Well, grandma eventually got even with all of us for not scratching her back very long anyone and everyone who went to visit grandma when she grew older had to scratch her back, if you didnt do it right or get the right spot she would be sure to let you know. Grandma always made sure to spoil her grandkids with milk, cookies and of course ice cream, her favorite was maple nut. She would send us to the grocery store with a list. It always consisted of bread, milk and two flavors of ice cream; maple nut and usually neapolitan because there were three choices vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Who could go wrong with that? I think a lot of us kids got our appreciation for maple nut ice cream from grandma. Grandma definitely had a sense of humor she could tell a joke like nobodys business and I know everyone of you know what Im talking about. It was always a non-stop laugh fest when you were with her. She was always happy and had a smile that would melt your heart. We all have amazing memories of grandma. I could never share them all because when you live to be 100 years young there are just too many to share. Grandma touched so many lives. I wonder if she knew how much she was loved. Thank you to all of her family and friends. We want to thank the amazing staff of Quinn Meadows and Hospice for taking such good care of our dear sweet mom and grandma. She always spoke of how good she was treated and how she loved you all. I dont want to leave anyone out so thank you all for your dedication and love. Grandma, we know you were ready to continue your journey and we thank you for all of the amazing memories filled with love, laughter, hugs and kisses. You always made us feel so special! We are so glad you get to be with all your loved ones who left this world before you. Grandpa Elden, Connie, Dwayne, Gene, Jay, Joy, Rooke, Anastasia, Tim, Tyler, John Jr., Darlene, Susan, Keith, Kody and so many more. Even though you had almost 101 years with us here on earth, you will be in our memories and hearts forever. We know how very much you loved us and we are so thankful to have been on this journey with you. Our bonds of love will never be broken. Carry on your journey until we all meet again. We love you mom and grandma! Ina is survived by her son, John Crystal, daughter-in-law, Evelyn Crystal; two sisters, Doris Pierce Stanley and Verna Mae Mose; her grandchildren, Rocky, Patricia, Cheryl, Lori, Bart, Tammy, Julie, Todd, Danny, Shanda, Kevin, Lisa, Katina, Ron.
