One of earths most beautiful souls left to start a journey in the heavens as our angel. Before she left she planted seeds that have grown into the most beautiful flowers. These flowers blossomed into wonderful children, and deeply rooted friendships. On October 2, 2014 , Ileen Fried, 67, passed away surrounded by loved ones. She was born December 31, 1946 to Wayne and Marion Monroe in Bismarck , North Dakota . She graduated in 1964 from Bismarck High School . She went to work for the hospital in Bismarck where she met and fell in love with Herb Fried while he was recovering from an injury. I leen and Herb were married June 12, 1965. Due to Herbs job, they moved frequently. They lived in Springfield , MO , Minot , ND and Rochester , MN . In 1974 they moved to Pocatello , ID . In 1977 they opened their own business, Herbs RV, which they owned and operated for over 20 years. They established many wonderful friendships while owning the business. After Herbs death in 1992, Ileens heart wasnt in the business and they closed the doors in 1999 . Ileen continued to work in sales. She wa s em pl oyed at Herberger's Department store at the ti m e o f her passing. Ileen was a dedicated mother. She was involved in the PTA , Campfire girls and many other activities her daughters took part in. While the girls were still at home she was active in the Presbyt e rian Church , in which she served as an Elder at one time. In 1996 Ileen met Craig Carlsen , her partner and fiance . Together they shared every passion and developed many great friendships. They were inseparable . Ileen was always ready to have fun. She enjoyed many activi ti es some of which were golf, snowmobiling, cooking, community work and socializing. She was a member of the Pocatello Elks Lodge 674 , in which s he s erved as a trustee and chaired the benefit golf tourna ment twice, Pocatello Pathfinders Snowmobile Club, and the Bengal Foundation, as well as a Lifetime member of Soroptimist International of Pocatello , in which she served two terms as President. She was currently volunteering with the Bengal Scarecrow auction and the campaign to elect Tamara Code for commissioner. Ileen had the great opportunity to do some traveling, some of which were a Caribbean Cruise, a European tour, the Philippines, and Mexico. Ileen was a loving and caring woman. She was not only an amazing mom to Debbie and Brenda, she was lovingly called "Ma Fried" by all of their friends. Ileen loved spending time with her friends, making each one of them feel special. She found her true calling and greatest joy when she became a grandma. She will be missed by all. Ileen is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Marion Monroe; her husband, Herb Fried and later fiance, Craig Carlsen ; two brother s in-law, LeRoy Kositzky and Dick Seabury; two niece 's, Sharon Eckman - Bertinelli and Cheri Kositzky , and Craig's granddaughter, Anna Lafontaine . Ileen is survived by her sister, Marlene (Frank) Wardner ( Mercer, ND ) and brother Pat (Bev) Monroe ( Bismarck, ND ) ; daughters, Debbie Fried ( Chubbuck, ID ) and Brenda Fried (Jeff ) Chaffin ; grandson, Roscoe Dakota Chaffin (Blackfoot, ID), step grandsons, Wade and Jacob Chaffin ( Chico, CA ) , Craigs son Eric Carlsen (Show Low, AZ ) and daughter Mandeline Carlsen (T.J. Lafontaine ) and their son, Sebastian Kent, WA .; brothers and sisters in-law, Willard (Norma) Fried (Medford, OR), Bill (Ann) Fried (Billings, MT) , Lorraine (Ruben) Eckman , Gary Fried (Bismarck, ND), Arnie Fried (Bismarck, ND) Art (Linda) Fried (Spokane, WA), Dennis (Judy) Fried (Bismarck, ND), Angie Seabury (Dwayne) Hoovestal ( Cottonwood, AZ); 19 nieces and nephews, and their extended families. Services will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 202 S. 7 th Ave. (7th and Lewis St.) Pocatello, ID. A celebration of life, including Elks Rites , will follow the service at the Elks Lodge, 410 S. Main St. Pocatello, ID. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Citizens Community Bank in Ileen's memory. The account is listed under Debbie Fried and Brenda Fried Chaffin . Ileen's daughters would like to buy a brick at Simplot Square and a Picket or Paver at Brooklyn's Playground i n Ileen's memory. Any additional funds will go to help purchase a joint headstone for Ileen and Herb, and an education fund for her grandson .
