Ila Jean Steffens

Ila Steffens our loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Ila was born August 12, 1949 in Pocatello, ID. She was the youngest of 3 children. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1966. She married Richard Steffens, the love of her life, on February 4, 1967. Ila worked in retail sales for many years. She started her career at Circle K and then moved to Sunset. She worked for 17 years at Sears as the Customer Service manager. Ila finished her career working 8 years at Walmart, first as the department manager of shoes and then jewelry. She was successful because she cared about helping people. Her favorite hobby was finding a bargain at a garage sale. She loved to haggle over the price. She had a keen eye for items of value and found many hidden treasures. She gave away most everything she bought from these sales and found joy in helping others in need. Ila would assemble everything she hadnt given away and would have her own garage sale. This was just her way of raising more money to go to more garage sales. Ila loved all kinds of animals and had a variety of pets. Among her favorites was her St. Bernard, Mozart. Ila is survived by her brother, Larry; her three children, Stephanie Steffens Berntson (Carl), Cedar Hills, UT, Kris Steffens Kollars (Mark), Chubbuck, ID, and Rick Steffens, Pocatello, ID; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Ila has been cremated at her request. A private family gathering is planned. There will not be any formal services.
