Ida Rhea Clark

April 5, 1936 — January 23, 2021

Ida Rhea (Krohn) Clark, 84, passed away January 23, 2021, in Pocatello, ID. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald A. Clark, and their four children which include: son David P. Clark of Washington IL (Roshell Clark), son Eric A. Clark of East Peoria, IL, son Glenn E. Clark of Pocatello, ID (Diana Clark), and daughter Marta J. (Clark) Cappa of Lake Tapps, WA (Jim Cappa). She was proud of her 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Ida was born in Forrest, IL, and had two older sisters who pre-deceased her — Anne (Krohn) Hunziker and Donna (Krohn) Moushon. She grew up in East Peoria, IL and graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1954. Ida married Donald Clark that same year, whom she met through Don's sister, Doris, at a Youth for Christ gathering. She worked in Peoria during the early years of their marriage, until the first of their four children was born. Ida was a stay-at-home mom for many years until resuming her role as bookkeeper for various companies during the next decades. Together, Ida and Don lived in Washington, Illinois where they raised their family. They were members of Grace Bible Church and maintained their Christian friendships with fellow members even after they moved to Idaho.

Ida cared for others through her extraordinary baking. Known for her pies, cookies, and cakes, most everyone who knew Ida enjoyed these treats often. She was most known for apple and cherry pies, sugar cookies, and Texas cake among others. Many of us have memories of special birthday cakes shaped as a lady bug, hamburger, fairy-tale castle, teddy bear and more.

Ida was an avid reader of novels and read 2-3 books per week most of her adult life. She also loved listening to live music, visiting with friends, cooking, and the Sunday afternoon drive. Ida enjoyed the companionship of close friends, many of whom she knew most of her life. Ida and Don moved to Pocatello, ID in 2018 where they lived with Glenn and Diana for a year before moving together to Quail Ridge Assisted Living. There, they made many new friends, and Ida enjoyed listening to live music often, played chicken foot, and benefited from the care and love of Glenn and Diana nearby as well as the attentive care of the staff at Quail Ridge. She and Don helped each other with daily activities and made each other's lives better, doing for one another what the other could not.

Ida was adept at social media and texting, and used both to keep in touch with long-time friends, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was sharp and witty all the way to the end.

The family is planning a service for summer 2021 in Washington, IL. Details to be determined later.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
