Ida Marie McCoy
Ida Marie McCoy was born February 20th, 1954 in Pennsylvania to Bessie and Burton McCoy. Ida was born with a few limited physical disabilities. Those disabilities did not limit her spunky attitude and personality. When Ida was around 3 years old her mother passed away. Her father Burton remarried to Rosetta. Shortly after Ida was placed in Polk State School and Hospital. She remained there until the mid 1980's. She then moved to Pocatello ID.
She was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She attended the Alameda Deaf Ward where she participated and loved helping in primary, relief society, and the library. During this time she met and made friends with several people. A special friendship began with Heidi Helmandollar. Ida lived with Burton, his wife, and Ronald McCoy,( Ida's brother) until Burton passed away 2005. Ida did become employed at a local hotel with the help of a job coach during this time. She then moved in with Donna and Shane Porter. She continued to become more independent and enjoyed life. She soon moved out on her own with support from friends and trainers. (Diversity 2, Terri Jones and Independent Living Specialists, Janet Walker Boyce.) In 2007 Ida became a part of Faye Adamson's family with Autumn Anderson, Jeffrey Schroeter, Amara Nope, and Jericho Adamson. Ida moved right into their lives and their hearts.
Ida switched jobs in 2011 and began working at New Day Products and Resources. She made several more friends. She never met someone who didn't become her friend instantly. Ida still became more independent. Nothing could stop her. She moved out on her own again with the help of friends and trainers. She again touched several lives including Doris and Kelly Infanger. She participated in several family activities with them and loved it. She especially loved Christmas with them. Ida moved to a couple of places in Pocatello but remained living on her own, until her return to our Heavenly Father on March 6th, 2022. She passed with her friend Camille S Cowger by her side.
Ida loved all hues of the color purple. She loved being around people, especially children. She loved getting out and doing any kind of shopping and looking around at things. She noticed all things and worried over things that didn't seem right to her. Ida had several animals come in and out of her life. Her first dog she owned was named Baby. When Baby passed, Stella came into her life, and was the light of her life. Ida was a part of Special Olympic Bowling. She looked forward to that and loved the tournaments every year for several years. She also loved making cookies, doing puzzles, crafts including knitting, (hats scarfs and slippers) making friendship bracelets, hook rugs, sewing, playing games on her phone and notebook. Ida was happy, good natured, and kind to everybody.
She has returned to see her dad and play with her dog Baby. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Ida touched many lives and many touched her. If you were not mentioned above please know Ida loved everyone and you were all special to her.
