POCATELLO " Hubert Melvin Mecham, 85, passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2008. Hubert was born on April 30, 1923 in Tyhee to Melvin Leonidas Mecham and Rozella Prichett. He graduated from Blackfoot High School, and then served in the U.S. Army for 3 years as a MP during World War II.
He married Lorraine Olson on September 20, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and together had three children. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was loved by many family and friends.
Hubert worked as a salesman for George A. Lowe, Salt Lake Lumber Company & McClelland Lumber. He was manager for the Pepsi Warehouse and a salesman at Sears for over 20 years. He also served the LDS church as a Ward Clerk and as Stake Dance Director.
He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, golf and loved black licorice.
Hubert is survived by; his wife, Lorraine; children, Joyce (Danny) Stuart, Rod (Arlene) Mecham, Brent (Pamela) Mecham; siblings, Archie Mecham, Bill Mecham, Earl Mecham, Larry Mecham, Ramona Fullmer, Zelma Bell; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; sisters, Donna Parsons, Winona Nestor Wheatley; and a brother, Darrell Mecham.
