Hermann Josef Sterner,79, of Inkom, ID, was born in Buttstedt, Germany on November 11, 1934, and passed away on June 6, 2014. He was the second of eight children born to Wilhelm and Maria Sterner. Born and raised in "East" Germany until the age of 14, Hermann moved to West Germany for better education opportunities. He trained as a mechanical engineer and as a welder. He worked in numerous countries before immigrating to theU.S.A.throughCanada. Hermann worked in the chemical processing and packaging industry, retiring from Sonoco International Headquarters inHartsville,SCin 2001. Hermann and his wife, Rosalind Bement, were married February 14, 1970. In their 44 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children and nine grandchildren. Hermann is survived by his wife, Rose Sterner (Inkom, ID); his daughter Teri (Paul Bloomer) of Fairborn, OH; his sons Tim (Anna) of North Pole, AK, and Ted (Ariel) of De Graff, OH; his brothers Theo (Chrystl) and Hans (Carole) of Ontario (Canada), Josef (Rita) of Germany; his sisters Maria (Ferdi) Franke, Elizabeth (Josef) Kalbhenn, Theresa (Willi) Kalbhenn; and sister-in-law Ruth (Germany). He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Willi. Hermann was involved in the NRA and enjoyed hunting and working in his shop. He was most known for "the guy who could fix anything" and being a good neighbor.
