Helen Magdalene (Engelhart) Stuntz, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2017. Helen was born May 21, 1931 in Flint, MI to Augustin (Gus) and Mildred Engelhart. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick) Stuntz who passed in 1974. Helen and Dick were married in 1953 and she never remarried.
Helen graduated from St. Michael's High School in Flint, MI, Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, MI and Michigan State College in Lansing, MI. She worked as an English teacher until starting her family and lived in Michigan until moving to Colorado in 1964 where she raised her three children. In 2001 she moved to Crystal River, FL and then in 2005 moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she resided until her passing. During her years in Colorado and Florida she created custom jewelry and was part owner of Candles II.
Helen enjoyed helping others and was a member of The Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), bridge club and spent numerous hours volunteering in schools. She enjoyed her time as a Pink Lady in both MI and CO. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading and attending her children and grandchildren's activities. She was also interested in gardening and cooking.
She is survived by: her brother, Jack (Clarice) Engelhart of Clio, MI; children, Christine (Scott) Sprague of Soda Springs, ID, David Stuntz of Pocatello, ID, Catherine Row of Portland, OR; and grandchildren, Sarah Sprague (Ben Onosko), of Spokane Valley, WA, Laura Sprague of Crystal River, FL, and Derrick Row of Portland, OR and great-grandson Sawyer Onosko, of Spokane Valley, WA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Gus and Mildred Engelhart; husband Dick Stuntz; sister Corinne Young: brother Teddy Engelhart; and grandson, Logan Sprague.
