Harris Wardner (Ward) Heslin 87, born on July 20, 1927 to Harold Wardner Heslin & Dorothy Agnes Lambert Heslin in Bellingham, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2015 in Layton Utah surrounded by family.
Ward had a wonderful childhood growing up in Bellingham. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and joined the Air Force and worked as an aircraft instructor from 1946-1949. In 1951 Ward married Donna Rehberger and they later divorced. He later married Leola Joy Sickler and that marriage was later solemnized in the Dallas Temple in 1990 and Joy's son Channing Bogle was sealed to them.
Ward worked most of his life as a shipping and receiving manager and retired from General Electric in 1992 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was active in the LDS church and served in several callings including several bishoprics. Ward served a mission to the family history center in Las Vegas from 1992-1996. If Ward wasn't working he was volunteering his time. He volunteered at a detention center for boys, DI, different public schools, the Special Olympics, and the Las Vegas Temple kitchen.
Ward loved his sports, especially basketball and tennis. Ward played for the Air Force team while he was in the Air Force and later a semi-pro team while he lived in Seattle, Washington. He also won several tennis tournaments in Washington and Arkansas. But most of all, Ward loved his family and loved the gospel.
Ward is survived by his wife Joy Heslin and the mother of his children Donna Heslin; children Larry (Rose) Heslin, CA; Barbara (Rayo) Cobbley, ID; Carol (David) Merrill, UT; Jon (late Kaye) Heslin, TN; Gail (John) Strother, AR; Ken (Donna) Heslin, UT; Craig (Dawn) Heslin, MO; and Dianna Forster, UT; step-son Chan (Shawna) Bogle, TX; 33 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Ward is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jon Lambert Heslin.
