Harold Charles Linford, 83, passed away May 19, 2009, with his wife by his side at his home from a prolonged infection as a result of a accident. Harold was born on October 17, 1925 in St. Charles Idaho. He grew up on the family farm in St. Charles and attended grades one through eight there. He then attended and graduated from Fielding High School. He had a perfect attendance all through school. His brother Rex and Harold were responsible for eight cows to milk before school each day and again at night. He also helped gather and chop the wood for heat and cooking. He helped cut and haul hay. He learned to work hard at a very early age and continued throughout his life serving others. In October 1942, Harold enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He had an honorable discharge in May 1946. When he returned home, Harold and his brother Rex worked for a construction company and helped lay the first section of oiled roads in Bear Lake. He also worked for Idaho Power. In March 1948, Harold started a career at the Pocatello Fire Department. He worked there for 28 years the last 7 years he was a Lieutenant or a Company Officer in Charge of a Fire Station.
