Harold Daniel Schmidt

FORT HALL- Harold Daniel Schmidt, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Harold spent his early childhood in Nebraska, where he lived on his family's farm. He later moved to Shelley, Idaho where he attended high school. Harold eventually settled in Fort Hall where he and his wife raised their family together. Harold resided in Fort Hall until his passing.

Harold married Donna Parkin on August 20, 1948 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in September of 1977.

Harold loved to hunt and to fish. He was also a collector. He loved collecting rocks and antiques. Harold was also an avid gardener and he loved to research family history; and served several years at the Pocatello Family History Center.

Harold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many callings. He also served for several years in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Harold is survived by his loving wife Donna of Fort Hall, Idaho; daughter, Marsha (Gary) Delaney of Canyon City, Oregon; son, Stephen (Mona) Schmidt of Blackfoot, Idaho; daughter, Rhonda (Albert) Silvers of South Dakota; son, Richard Schmidt of Fort Hall, Idaho; daughter, Cynthia (Pat) Nunez of Lewiston, Idaho; brothers, Richard Schmidt and Lynn Schmidt; sister, Betty Blake; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his mother and father; infant daughter, Jana Kaye; son, Michael Schmidt; granddaughter, Christine Delaney; and sister, Laburta Pendleberry.

Harold's family would like to give a special thank you to Creekside Hospice, the doctors and staff at Portneuf Medical Center, family and friends.

Funeral services for Harold will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the LDS Fort Hall Building on Yellowstone Highway, US Highway 91. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck Idaho, and from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho, 238-8000.
