Harlow Andersen, 71, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2017, due to conditions connected with bone marrow cancer.
Harlow was born on October 8, 1945 to Lee and Jean Andersen in Tremonton, Utah. His family moved to the Aberdeen, Idaho area when he was 1 ½ years old. He attended school in the Aberdeen School District, graduating in 1963. He made many lifelong friends during his high school days. He attended Ricks College and Idaho State University. He began working for FMC Corporation in 1967 as a computer programmer and later became manager of data processing.
In 1969, he married Kathy Pierce in the Idaho Falls Temple. In 1973, while living in Green River, Wyoming, they adopted a son, Lynn. Unfortunately, Lynn was killed in a car accident in 1995.
Harlow retired form FMC in 2001. He then became a full-time volunteer. He volunteered at Portneuf Medical Center for 15 years and managed the LDS Bishop's Storehouse for 9 years. He served on the Parks and Recreation Board, the Friends of the Cemetery Committee and the local AARP chapter.
He loved to read especially historical novels. He was a life time member of the LDS church, holding many positions in that church, most frequently as clerk. He was clerk to 7 bishops and one stake president.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, who supported him in everything he attempted to do; brothers, Ferron Andersen and Jay Andersen and a sister, Jeanine Mickelsen.
He was preceded in death by; a son, Lynn; his parents; brothers, Kent and Rowayne and a sister Linda.
Funeral services for Harlow will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Highland LDS Stake Center at 2140 Satterfield Drive. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road in Chubbuck, Idaho and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
