Gwenn B. Humphries, 92, passed away September 9, 2017, peacefully with her daughters and son-in-law, Jim Jones, by her side. Now in the arms of Jesus, she will have no more sorrow and no more pain. Gwenn was born in Salem, Idaho December 8, 1924. As a young girl she and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho were she made her life. She married L.A. (Bud) Humphries in 1942. Gwenn was a stay at home mom, where she made her childrens clothing as they arrived in this world. She loved to garden and can her food. As her children grew she took up upholstery at home, what a beautiful job she would do. She always had other peoples furniture in her home. Not only was she amazing at that but she also built sheds to put her gardening supplies and lawn mower in. Raised up in the great depression, she could make a dollar last a month. There was nothing our mother could not do. She always enjoyed fishing with Bud and while he was at work, she'd go fishing with her sisters. A bit later in life she and Bud decided to buy a piece of land in the town site of Fort Hall, Idaho, where mom continued to live until 2011. They joined Sams RV Club and met a new friend while with Sams camping; no more tent as they now had a small motor home. A new adventure, they decided to raise and sell pheasant; that and the garden, kept them on their toes for several years. Their yard was beautiful and the garden never had a weed in it. They worked so hard and they also trained us kids up to be hard workers. Thanks mom and dad. They went back to church and were dedicated. While with the church, they went on several Temple tours until dads health began to fail. Bud passed away in March 2010. That summer she still wanted her garden, so with some help from a couple of grand kids and her daughters, we planted the last garden at Fort Hall. Mom decided it was too much for her and she wanted to move closer to her daughter Sparky (Sandy). We had an estate sale after mom went through everything. 37 years of everything, and she went through it so many times we lost count, but that was ok, sometimes you get attached. She did move closer back to Pocatello to her daughter Sparky. It was an apartment for the elderly, and so close it was, it just so happens that Sparky works there. The following spring (Vae Ann) was bringing mama back from an appointment, we talked and I asked her where she would go if she were to pass away. Well heaven she hoped, but that is not enough mom, I said. I said you can be sure the Bible tell us this. So driving down the road she prayed to Jesus and asked him in her heart as her personal Savior. To some this may not matter but to us Gods Word assures us we will be with Christ when we leave this earth if we are born again. We will be in the arms of Jesus for eternity. All was going well then about a year later her health began to slowly fail. Again, she had to down size and she moved to an assisted living home. December 2016, Hospice stepped up to help us with her. Encompass home health was our life saver. Not only did they love and care for our mother, they came right alongside and cared for us and were there for my sister and myself. We would like to thank Heather Booth and Sage, moms nurses, for their compassion; also, Desiree, Velana Roth, Jennifer Maynard, and Amy Grant-Lamb. Our mom was so blessed as we were also to have you loving amazing women in our lives. April 15, 2017, we moved her to Rosetta Assisted Living. They became our family and welcomed us with open arms. We want to thank, with all our hearts, Katie Brahosky, Kaylei Towner, Shyier, Skyler and the rest of the staff for the love you showed our mom and the care given. We could not have asked for better. Our mom was quit the funny lady and the care takers at Encompass and Rosetta, would share their stories with us about things mom would say or do. We are going to miss our mom dearly. Gwenn is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Humphries; daughter, Diana Lee and Wes Evans; parents; and her siblings; she as the last. She is survived by her son, Lynn (Velma) Humphries; 2 daughters, Sandy (Sparky) Jim Jones, and Vae Ann (Vanny) Carey Byington; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a handful of great-great-grandchildren.
