Guy R. Lounsbury died on July 10, 2018 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello, ID, due to complications of a neurodegenerative disorder consistent with frontotemporal dementia. He was 71. Guy was born in Stoneham, MA on January 5, 1947, the eldest son of the late Robert S. Lounsbury and Laurette (Gauthier) Lounsbury. He graduated from Stoneham High School and was conferred a bachelors degree (B.A.) from the University of Pennsylvania. As an enlisted Marine, he served in the Vietnam War where he was severely wounded in action in 1969. His service awards include the Bronze Star (w / Combat 'V' device), Purple Heart, and Combat Action Ribbon. Following the war, Guy served a career in the Veterans Administration, first in Denver and later at Spokane VAMC as Chief of Prosthetics where he retired. His wife, Bonnie (Ramsdell) Lounsbury passed away two weeks before him in Nine Mile Falls, WA where they had a home. The two were active participants in Spokane's music, arts, and cultural community. Guy is survived by his son, Geoff of Seattle; daughter, Kristin (Curtis) Hamond of Spokane; three grandsons; sister, Judy Barry of Winthrop, MA; brothers, Dave of Wakefield, MA, Don of Santa Clara, CA, and Paul of Danville, NH. He also leaves behind fellow Marine Boyd Larsen of Springfield, ID, who saved his life in Vietnam and became thereafter a longtime close friend. Boyd shepherded Guy from Spokane to the Veterans Home in Idaho. Geoff and Dave were with Guy when he died. Private services and inurnment of his and Bonnie's ashes will take place at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA. Gifts in Guy's name may be made to the Idaho State Veterans Home, 1957 Alvin Ricken Dr., Pocatello, Idaho 83201 (please specify 'Pocatello').
