Margaret Svancara, born on October 8, 1926, in Nuremberg, Germany, passed away on April 16, 2024, in Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 97. She was a beloved wife, caring aunt, and cherished friend.
She was proud of the fact that she "survived" Hitler's tyranny. At the age of twelve, she experienced the bombing of her home by the Allied forces during World War II. She had many stories to tell of the War. At the age of seventeen, she was told by a Gypsy she would travel over the Ocean.
Margaret and Otto were married in Nuremberg, Germany on November 28, 1958. She made her first trip to the United States on January 18, 1959. She became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen on September 28, 1961. She was very proud to become a U. S. Citizen.
She was a well-dressed lady, very friendly and welcoming.
Margaret was a dedicated dietician at St. Joseph's Hospital in San Jose, California, where her exceptional work ethic earned her numerous awards. She retired in 1986 after a fulfilling career.
In her free time, Margaret enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She found joy in creating and sharing her talents with those around her. Margaret was a very caring person. She loved cats and dogs and had many special pet friends throughout her life. She took special care of her husband until he passed away at the age of 95, on July 8, 2020.
Margaret is survived by many nieces and nephews. She formed a special bond with her nephew, Robert J Svancara, and his wife, Penny, who became more than family to her. Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otto R. Svancara, whom she cared for until his passing in 2020.
A service to honor Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Wilks Funeral Home, located at 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID 83202. Wilks Funeral Home of Chubbuck, Idaho, is assisting with the arrangements.
Margaret will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
