Grant Hacking born 6/20/1975 in Twin Falls Idaho with a congenital heart defect and thought to not make it through the night, died Monday night, 3/16/2015 at PMC. As it was in his birth it was in his death, he fought this illness till the end.
Grant received the majority of his schooling in Blackfoot. He worked at Melina's and Pratt Lumber in his teens. He was a gifted and favorite local contractor and enjoyed several work seasons in Alaska.
Grant is remembered as a family man with a heart of gold, an ever ready smile, and infectious laugh, he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. Grant worked hard and played harder, he enjoyed spending his time with Emily, their children, family and friends. He had affection for the outdoors; he enjoyed skeet shooting, fishing, hunting, BBQ's, and derby cars.
In 2013, he started a catering business, quickly finding his niche in life he became the preferred provider of smoked items for many in the area. His success was short lived; Grant contracted a staph infection that attacked several major organs. His kidneys never recovered, forcing Grant to receive daily dialysis treatment. These treatments were taxing for Grant and robbed him of his strength and energy. After enduring such treatments for over a year, his heart was not able to continue.
Grant, a member of the Blackfoot Elks Lodge, was especially grateful for the continued love and support of this community and felt privileged to be a part of it.
Grant is survived by the love of his life Emily, four children Maegan, Evan (biological son of Evan Gallegos Sr.), Denver and Deegan. As well as Joanne Kerbs, Grandmother, Wanda Kerbs, his "dad" Dee Hansen, his sisters Jonelle Duggins, Mellissa Bryant Monson and brother Denny Hacking, sister and brothers from another mother, Michelle Hansen Anderson, Josh Hansen, Matt Hansen, JD Hansen, and Zakary Hansen.
