Golda Fairbanks

Golda Fairbanks, 91, of Pocatello, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at a local hospital. Golda was born on March 5, 1917 to James and Lona Mae (Bagley) Peterson in Victor, Idaho. She grew up in that area and graduated from Victor High School in the class of 1935. She married Rex W. Fairbanks in Cascade, Idaho, on September 21, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 29, 1980. She worked at the Jackson Hole Wyoming Dude Ranch in the summers in her youth and was also a full-time homemaker as an adult. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved being a visiting teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed fishing and helping others. She also enjoyed watching her great-granddaughters become beautiful young ladies. The family would like to express thanks to her long time car giver, Kay Lewis, who also helped with the care of Rex until his passing. The family would also like to thank Cathy Lamb and family, Kay Mann Brown, as well as Dr. LaVonne Mills, her physician and friend. She was survived by her son Melvin (Weslyn) Fairbanks of Casper, Wyoming; daughter Gayle (Les) Gibson of Pocatello; granddaughter Saara Ullery Burr of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson Tom (Corinne) Reed of Omaha, Nebraska; grandson Monti (Heidi) Pittman of Meridian, Idaho; granddaughter Lona (Michael) Titlow of Pocatello; grandson Troy (Yvonne) Fairbanks of Casper, Wyoming; granddaughter Tara Fairbanks of Casper, Wyoming; great-grandchildren Tiffanie, Brittnee, and Holly Titlow; Michael (Crystal), Shay, and Rylee Pittman; Machaela and Alex Fairbanks; Jeremy, Jennifer and Joelle Reed; Heath and Richelle Burr; great-great-grandsons Cody, Ethan, and Simon. She was preceded in death by her husband Rex, her parents, a brother Arville Peterson, and a sister Velda Peterson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow services at the Victor Cemetery in Victor, Idaho.
