On October 30th the light of the world dimmed a bit. Carolyn "Buddy" Roderick departed this earthly realm for a new an wonderous adventure. Exactly 83 years earlier, again on October 30th , 1936 Buddy came into this world in Greene County Mississippi. A deceptively small bundle….. a bundle who soon became a force-to-be-reckoned-with in all things. Carolyn or "Buddy" (but not Glynn) Roderick. Buddy was a "super". Her superpowers? Love, Laughter, and Living-Life-To-It's-Fullest! She successfully completed her mission here on Earth on the same date, October 30th, of this year 2019, 83 years later.
During her mission here on terra-firma, she was joined in her endeavors by her loving husband and sidekick, Wayne Eugene Roderick. Together for 64 years, from the August 6, 1955 date of their alliance, they fought against the evils of sadness and loneliness by spreading joy and companionship wherever they went. They soon added to their team. There were two First Generation models – Randy and Dina Jo. These two were paired with their cohorts, Colleen and Kaycee. This Second Generation of superheroes drastically increased the team's capacity for Love and were known from that day forward as Joni, Katie, Teri, and Callie. An additional, secret member of Gen 2 was later added. In turn, they have continued the mission, adding four more to the Gen 2s and an additional nine junior partners in the form of the Third Generation. Special recognition goes to sister, Rosemary Lohman, for her early and ongoing adventure support and sister Pat Davison and prototypes, Glen and Irma McLain for much the same, but since moved onto new missions.
The victories accomplished by our heroine and her team were endless. However, her leadership was greatest in the fields of Family and Friends. She met with these on the fields of Trail Bike Riding, Square Dancing, Camping, Pinochle, Bowling, nearly all sports, and any place where her special talents were needed. Always victorious in the face of these challenges, she relentlessly managed to infuse the day with her special Ray Gun of Fun. She was also a first-string player on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Team Buddy would like to extend an invitation to all extended "supers" for a celebration of Buddy's life. There will not be a viewing but rather an informal remembrance of her life and how she touched so many lives. Come as you are. Bring your stories to share. Stay a while to chat. We will bring some snacks. You might learn a few things you didn't know about Glynn Carolyn "Buddy" Roderick!
Come early 6:30pm to chat. 7pm will be a short program with more time to socialize after.
Memories and Condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
