A Short Story About An Amazing Woman

~And when I say short….she was 4’11”~

Gloria was the baby of the family born to Rene and Lois Schenk. She had four older siblings, Brian Schenk, Stanley Schenk, Dee Schenk, and Josie Honstetter. Just as in birth, in passing she was the caboose.

Gloria never married or had children. She has many nieces and nephews that she cared for as her own. Their love for Aunt Glo was beyond measure.

Gloria recently retired and was loving every minute of it. One of her favorite things to do was to go golfing and have lunch with her best friend, Sheryl Sluder.

She was an amazing cook, just like her Mom. She regularly held a “Mexican feast” which meant taking a week off work to make enough food to feed anyone and everyone all of her specialties.

She was on a pool league for many years of her life and was a damn good shot. She enjoyed darts and bowling too. Aunt Glo loved her music, whether it was attending concerts or listening to and singing her favorite songs by a campfire (with a bud light in her hand).

She was a chihuahua lover and had several by her side throughout her life.

More than anything, she loved her family and friends and would do anything for them.

We had so many adventures together and she was always ready for the next one. We will miss our matriarch! Until we meet again we will live and love in your honor. We will do our best to carry on your traditions and we will keep your memory alive.

All our love,

Your Nieces and Nephews.
