Glen Waddell Romriell “Glenny”, 88, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024, in Blackfoot, Idaho, surrounded by his family. Glen was born to John Thomas Romriell and Inez Waddell on October 30, 1935, in their family home in Logan, Utah. He was the youngest of 14 children: Mary, John Henry, Lodema, Leatha, Wallace, Jessie, Viola, Floyd, Jay, Francis, Edwin, Inez Fluetta, Jerald, and Glen.
As a young boy, Glen spent his childhood in Franklin, Richmond, Robin, Crystal Springs, with the family settling in McCammon, Idaho. The family worked farms around the Marsh Valley area, where Glenny’s job was to herd cattle down the Lava Highway. For payment, his parents would give him every other milk check. He attended school in McCammon, Idaho.
At 16, Glen went to work at Colley’s Gas Station at the corner of Highway 91 & Lava Highway. In 1955, he began working for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he dedicated 40 years before retiring.
Glen married Joyce Lish, with whom he had four children: Farrell, Kristine, Thomas (Tommy), and Steven. They later divorced. He then married Nancy Sizemore, and together they had a daughter, JoAnn.
On January 31, 1975, Glen married Kathleen Newill to which Kathy brought her three children; Traci, Jamie, and Ronnie. Together, they welcomed their final child, Shelley, completing their family. Glen and Kathy built their life and homestead in Inkom, Idaho, where Kathy will continue to reside.
Glen loved big and worked hard. His devotion to his family and his service to others were the defining aspects of his character, which he passed down to his children. When not working for the Union Pacific Railroad, Glen could be found tending to his property, caring for his animals, or working in his garden.
Glen cherished the outdoors and loved riding horses with his wife and children, especially enjoying the time spent riding alongside his wife. He also took annual hunting trips, more for the joy of being in nature than for hunting itself. These trips were always accompanied by his favorite treats: "Big Hunk" candy bars and black licorice. Above all, Glen was happiest when his family was happy.
Glen was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held numerous callings over the years, including serving as a counselor in the Elder’s Quorum and as a High Council member. He also found great fulfillment as a Home Teacher for Gloria Kirby, alongside Ed Bruderer, for over 20 years.
Glen is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sister, Inez Fluetta Simmons; and his children: Farrell (GaeDene) Romriell, Thomas “Tommy” (Aimee) Romriell, Steven (Heidi) Romriell, Traci (Greg) Hubit, Jamie (Nick) Carter, JoAnn (Jerry) Bailey, Ronnie Losser, and Shelley (Casey) Brunson. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Farrah Richards; Darren, Skylar, and Dallin Romriell; David, Cody, and Tash Romriell; Buddy and Ryelee Romriell; Morgan Middleton and Scott Foster; Shawn, Chase, and Lexi Rowe; Megan and Jared Pyne; Alex, Austin, and Wyatt Losser; Cole and Sam Brunson, and Chloe Hill, as well as 19 great-grandsons, 16 great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson and great-granddaughter soon to arrive this month.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Inez, seven brothers, five sisters, his daughter Kristine, father-in-law Howard Newill, mother-in-law Sharon Slade Newill, and sister-in-law Connie Newill.
