Glen Melvin Thompson passed away June 20, 2015 in Pocatello, Idaho following an extended illness. He was born September 17, 1931 to Clyde M. and Hettie Dunn Thompson in Grace, Idaho. He grew up learning hard work on his fathers farm, was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Grace High School in 1949. He married Diane Cleveland and had three children: Sherry, Kerry and Von. They later divorced and he married Dru Ryan McRae. Her 6 children became his, Lorin, Lance, Kim, Shauna, Mara and Taunia. After his wife Dru passed away in 2001, he married a friend from high school, Joan Adams Murray, who was also widowed. This added 5 more children: Jan, Bryan, Renee, Vern and Jill. Glen and Joan enjoyed their retirement years and spent time dancing, fishing, making friends and took several cruises. Together they served a mission in St. George, Utah. They moved to Pocatello from Salt Lake 8 years ago. He was a master carver and woodworker; he competed, taught classes and created many lifelike duck, fish and bird masterpieces. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and camp in his motor home. He was a fierce competitor at racquetball and actively played into his 80s. Glen was a diehard fan of the Utah Jazz with season tickets to watch them play for years. When he could no longer attend he never missed a game watching from the comfort of home. He filled many church callings, his favorites being scout master, home teacher and temple worker. He was called "a true friend" by many. Glen is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Melva, Lucene, and Erma; also three brothers, Jack, Dell and Dean. He is survived by his sister, Joyce C. Payne; his wife, Joan and numerous children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many. Glen and family would like to thank the staff at Access Hospice for their care during his illness and his nurses, Hannah, Michelle and Jan.
