Glen Keller

Glen R. Keller was born January 3, 1940, in Pocatello, Idaho. He was born the youngest of five children to Edwin and Mary Ellen Keller. Glen returned to his heavenly father September 1, 2008 following a sudden and brief illness. Glen was raised in Pocatello and spent the majority of his life in Pocatello and McCammon, Idaho. As a child he had the opportunity of spending summers camping in The Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yellowstone National parks with his family as his father worked as a park ranger. At age 16 he met his only true love, Janet Lee Willes. Janet waited patiently two and a half years for him to return from service as an LDS missionary to the Swiss-Austria Mission. Promptly upon his return on, November 19, 1962, they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they raised six children spending 20 years in McCammon, Idaho. Glen graduated from Pocatello High School in 1958 and received his Bachelors degree from Idaho State University in 1968. Glen taught school in Nevada and Idaho. He also spent many years working for the Idaho Transportation Department and as a custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Glen supported the Boy Scouts of America, having had the opportunity as a young man to attend the National and International Boy Scout Jamborees. Glen served his country for 18 years in the National Guard. He was deeply missed by his family while he was away helping fight wild fires and on training exercises, however it was always a joyous reunion with his family upon his return. Glen was an avid reader and history buff with a thirst for knowledge. He enjoyed photography, both of beautiful scenery and wildlife but his most treasured photos were of his family. He loved to travel and a road atlas was never far away. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and twice to Europe. It was clear that he enjoyed the long road trips with his family to LDS church history sites. He enjoyed attending all of the many activities of his children and grandchildren. He was never too busy and nothing was ever too far away for Glen to be there to show his support. He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a High Priest in the Alameda Stake. Glen is survived by his wife, Janet Keller, children, Dianne Auger (Shaun) Las Vegas, Nevada; David Keller, Kenneth Keller (Randie), Jan Keller (Cory Roth), Renae Braack (Jonathan) all of Pocatello, Idaho; Michael Keller (Emaly) Springfield, Missouri, Sister, Ruth Meyers, Pocatello and Brother Richard Keller (Vera), Snohomish, Washington, and 12 loving grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by Edwin Keller, Father; Mary Ellen Keller, Mother; his sister Mary Ellen Keller and James Keller, Brother. Glen greeted everyone with a smile and a joke and was friendly to all he came in contact with. His unique sense of humor will truly be missed. His remarkable life will long be remembered by his family including his 12 beloved grandchildren who will carry on his example for generations. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at the Alameda 4th Ward Chapel, 1140 E. Lakeview. The viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave, Pocatello. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery with military rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
