Gertrude V Price

POCATELLO " Gertrude “Gertie” Price, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday August 9, 2008. She was born August 23, 1914 in Pocatello, Idaho to Charles Harrison Overton and Vivian Thomas. She was raised and educated here in Pocatello. She married Harry Price in Salt Lake City on March 26, 1932; they were childhood friends that developed into lifelong sweethearts. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple. Harry and Gertie spent 68 years together until Harry passed away in 2000.

Harry caught rheumatic fever so Gertie went to work for the Railroad to support the family while he was ill. At the age of 49 she began work at Lam Weston and worked there for 14 years.

Her self appointed main purpose was the caring and supporting her family. She supported her children and grandchildren in all events and activities they participated in. She loved everything about the outdoors; camping, fishing, and animals especially horses. She enjoyed dancing and serving as a dance director for a time. In her later years she loved taking rides and seeing the beautiful country side our area affords, she especially loved rides during the fall months. She loved traveling and did it worldwide.Through art classes given by the senior citizens center she learned how and loved to paint, including china painting, and sewing. The entire family will miss the mini-family reunions that occurred at her house every Christmas Eve.

She is survived by; her children, Reese (Sharon) Price, Inkom; Chad (Marilyn) Price, Pocatello; Julleen (Dennis) Steed, Inkom; Tamra (Gordon) Wilks, Chubbuck; John (Bonnie) Price Pocatello; 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Marion Overton, Pocatello.

She was preceded in death by; her husband, Harry Price; her parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; a daughter, Barbara Price; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services for Gertie will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday August 15, 2008 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. A viewing will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday August 14, 2008 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will follow services on Friday at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
