Gertrude Hall Frasure

June 30, 1916 — June 23, 2012

Our lovely angel went to be with the lord on June 23, 2012. Gertrude Hall Frasure was born on June 30, 1916 in Harold (Amba) Kentucky. She was born to Joe Hall and Nancy (Nan) Ackers Hall. Gertrude was the oldest of 11 children, all of whom were born at home with the help of a midwife.

She was no stranger to hard work. Her early years were spent cooking on a coal stove, fetching water from the well, digging herbs to buy material for Nan to make school clothes, gathering eggs, plucking duck feathers to make feather beds as well as helping raise bees, orchards, cows, hogs and of course her siblings.

Gertrude remembered well the lesson her mom Nan taught her: “NEVER SLIGHT NOBODY AND ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH IT WILL STAND WHEN NOTHING ELSE WILL”

Gertrude met Robert Frasure at the age of 21 they left Kentucky and moved to Idaho on October 7, 1938. She arrived in Idaho with nothing but a coat and a small suitcase. Gertrude and Robert were married on November 3, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were graced with a son, Don D Frasure ten months later.

The family of three farmed at Gibson for two years. They then moved to Kimball where they raised milk cows and 250 chickens. Robert and Gertrude then entered into the lounge business where they bought or leased several establishments including Scottys lounge, The Chief lounge and Bills bar in Pocatello Idaho. Robert then went to work for the railroad and Gertrude worked in the spud houses at harvest time. She often mentioned the 26 times they moved during their marriage. After retirement they moved to Boise and then to Kuna Idaho where she currently resided.

She loved to garden and cook. Her happiest moments were feeding family her awesome fried chicken, mustard greens, corn bread, sop and biscuits, pickled corn and homemade sour kraut to name a few. Never would an animal or person go hungry if Gert was around.
