Geri Gifford

Ila Geraldine"Geri" Gifford, 83, passed away on Thursday July 4, 2013 at a local care center Geri was born May 25, 1930 in Nampa Idaho daughter of Ernest Charles Miller and Ethel Claudine "Raff" Miller. The early years of her life were made up of hardship along with heartbreak. She was born in Nampa Idaho but at the tender age of 9 she lost her mother and younger sister in a fire. One could become hardened by these events but in spite of these devastating tragedies Geri became a very soft, kind, and sweet individual. At age 16 she met the one and only man of her life Vaughn. They were married the 3rd of January 1947 in Pocatello Idaho. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1964. Together they raised 3 children; Rick, Joyce and Michael. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and has been faithful in many callings. Her home has always been opened lovingly to many family and friends. She is survived by two of her children: Joyce (Roland) Hering, Clearfield, Utah, Michael (Patricia) Gifford, Mesa, AZ; brother, Robert Miller; sisters, Linda Ellis, Jennie McCormick and Patty Devenberg of Pocatello, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lavaughn, son Rick, sister Sunny Malone, brother-in-law Paul Devenberg, father Ernest Miller and step-mother Phyllis Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the LDS Meadowbrook Chapel located at 300 E. Chapel, Pocatello, Idaho. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
