George Wesley Carter

December 18, 1924 — April 9, 2010

McCAMMON " George W. Carter, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully while tending to his yard on Friday, April 9, 2010.
George was born December 18, 1924 to George W. and Goldie Jean (King) Carter in Oakland, Oregon. The family later moved to North Bend, Oregon. George moved to Portland, Oregon to live with his Dad. When he turned 18, he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served his God, his country, and his family for six years as a serviceman. While he was enlisted, he met and married Maria Gonzalez. A daughter was soon born to that marriage, Rosa Jean Carter. He and Maria later divorced following his military service.
While he was employed at Twin City Laundry in North Bend, Oregon, he met the love of his life, Evlyne Richardson in April of 1951. They were married October 1, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. They moved to Idaho shortly after they were married, lived in Canada for one year, then returned to Idaho where they stayed. Together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage, weathering the ups and downs. Together they had three children, Daniel Joe Carter, Lenny Reece Carter, and Shaunene Nancy Carter. George worked for Bannock Paving for 22 years as a heavy-duty crusher mechanic
George was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Operating Engineers Local 370D. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, his Model “T”, making model airplanes, taking care of his wild birds and squirrels, and his yard work. His greatest love was his wife and family. His grandchildren loved to help Grampa with his projects and he taught them valuable life's lessons. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
George is survived by his sweetheart, Evlyne B. Carter, McCammon, Idaho; children, Rosa Jean (Ron) Mock, Casa Grande, Arizona; Daniel Joe (Nikki) Carter, Portland, Oregon; Lenny Reece Carter, Cabool, Missouri; Shaunene Nancy (Mark) Haddock, McCammon, Idaho; a brother, Jimmy Carter of Oregon; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Goldie Carter; a sister, Jennie Berthold; and three aunts.
