George Stanley Barrus

March 26, 1936 — August 3, 2021

George "Stanley/Stan" Barrus, born March 26, 1936, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on August 3rd 2021. Stan grew up in the Pocatello area, formally known
as Alameda. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.
He returned home to meet and marry Merlynn C. Floyd. Stan and Merlynn adopted their
one and only son, Lynn Barrus, in 1962.
Stan worked at a tree service and in welding shops, prior to spending the rest of his
working career with JR Simplot, retiring in 1998.
Stan enjoyed spending his free time outdoors. He indulged in activities such as hunting,
fishing, horseshoes, camping, and telling stories around the campfire after a long day of golf.
Stan and Merlynn spent a majority of their early times on the Blackfoot reservoir. Both before
and after retirement they spent time in Mackay. In retirement they became camp hosts at the
White Knob R.V. Park.in Mackay, Idaho.
Stan is survived by Lynn (Joyce) Barrus, his 2 granddaughters and 4 great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and his wife of 57 years, Merlynn.
