George "Rusty" Welch

December 2, 1955 — July 28, 2022

George "Rusty" Welch returned home on July 28th, 2022. Rusty was born on December 2nd, 1955. He was born and raised in American Falls. Later on, he moved to Pocatello, where he lived the rest of his life.

Rusty graduated from American Falls High School. He spent 22 years of his career working at FMC. After leaving this job, he went to school for medical coding. This led him to a career at Blackfoot South, where he retired. Rusty was a free spirit and was called to nature and traveling. No matter where he was going, the journey was always as exciting as the destination. He knew how to make anything and everything an adventure. He was a light that guided everyone he loved. He held an unspeakable amount of love for every single one of his friends and family. He also had a great love for his pets, including Mickey, Peppy, and Gus, who he is playing with now.

Rusty had many interests and hobbies. He participated in pool tournaments, which he loved, and did amazing at. He loved traveling and seeing the world. He also loved fishing and rock hunting. It was always the most beautiful thing watching him work in his garage tying flies for fishing or cleaning up his rocks and figuring out what type they were. Along with these, he also loved hunting, painting, golf, and being with those he loved. He was a beautiful, old soul and loved having deep conversations about anything you could think of, some of his favorites being UFOs and the universe. He also loved eagles, plants, and road trips.

Rusty was married to Teresa "Teri" Welch on August 2nd, 1980. He instantly became a father to Kidonia "Katie" (Kazavis) Gault (spouse, John Daniel, deceased). They later gave birth to 3 boys, Lloyd George (Amy) Welch, John Thomas (Hailey) Welch, and Scott Richard Welch. Rusty later married Aleta Welch on August 11th, 2021. Rusty is preceded in death by Teresa Welch, Betty Welch (mother), and Elmer Welch (father).

Rusty is survived by his wife, Aleta Welch; his children; 7 grandchildren; and his siblings, Steve Welch, Todd Welch, Angela Heaton, and Kristi Welch-Thomas.
