George Anthony Flores Sr., 58, returned home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday August 28th, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.
George was born October 2, 1953 in Del Rio, Texas. He was the 5th child to be born to Candalario & Dominga Flores. George has 5 brothers; Gilbert, Baldmar, David, Eddie and Candalario Jr. He also has 4 sisters; Mary, Blanche, Romie and Lisa.
In his early years, George's father moved the family from Del Rio to Fort Hall, Idaho. But George remained in Texas with his uncle Martin & Aunt Jessie for a few years before joining the family at their family farm.
During his childhood, George did various things to help around the family farm. At this time his love for cars emerged and as a teenager he enlisted in Job Corps and received a degree in welding.
Upon his return from Job Corp, George met the love of his life Margaret Rose Zazweta and her son Ronald Lee Diaz, whom he raised as his own son. On March 9, 1973, George & Margaret celebrated the birth of their 1st child together; a son, George Anthony Flores Jr. At this time, George worked various jobs until 1976 when he then established his auto collision career at C. Ed Flandro Ford of Pocatello.
On March 16, 1980, George & Margaret were happy to welcome to the world, Damian Vincent Flores. Finally on October 29, 1982 George & Margaret became proud parents to the last of their four boys, Lance Edward Flores. Then in early 2000 George was able to establish his long lost relationship with his beautiful daughter Phiona and his 3 wonderful granddaughters.
Through the 80's and early 90's, George became well known in the car show world by displaying one of his well known show cars; his 1969 Corvette. George received many awards for his corvette as well as awards for numerous cars, trucks, motorcycles and low-riders that George built for people in the Pocatello area. Establishing his name and reputation in the auto collision industry, George was able to start his own auto collision shop and in March of 1991 he opened George's Auto Body which he has owned and operated until the present.
During these years at the shop, his sons George Jr. and Ronald learned the trade while working under their father. Besides his sons working at the shop, George also employed his brother Baldmar and numerous nephews throughout the years. At the time of starting his own business, a friendship developed that remained strong up until his death. Every morning, George would make his morning coffee trip to the local paint store and enjoy chatting with his good friend Huey Barkdull.
George was a very outgoing individual, who had a love for his family, friends, camping, jet skiing, traveling and other various activities. But his true love was throwing the biggest and best BBQ's for family & friends, his relationship he had for many years on the golf course and his extreme love for his grandchildren.
If George wasn't hard at work, you could find him at various golf courses in the surrounding area or spending time with his grandkids. George also set a time each year to take his family on the most extravagant vacations. From trips to Mexico to Texas to California and his most memorable one; a cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico.
During the last years of his life, you would see George more and more at either the casino or the golf course with his golf crew that included Lynn Cornielson, Rod Rutherford, Tom (Debbie) Gates, Robert Huerta and George Flores Jr.
Up until his death, George was a hard working man, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, godfather and dear friend to all. George is truly going to be missed by all the lives he has touched throughout the years.
