Gean Fredrickson, 92, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at her home. She was born on December 8, 1926 to Raymond Steel Garvin and Mary Edith Fairchild Garvin; in her first home at 168 Park Ave. In 1929 they moved to 164 Idaho Street. Gean graduated from Pocatello High School in 1945. Gean married Moroni (Mac) Fredrickson on September 10, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Geans first job, out of high school in 1945, was a clerk for Sears & Roebuck Company in the catalog office. Fourteen months later she got a job at Montgomery Ward as a cashier, credit clerk and payroll clerk. After Gean raised her family she went to work for School District #25 in the cafeteria at Alameda Jr. High School and was affectionately known as the "lunch lady." Gean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as secretary in the Primary and special needs Primary, as the Librarian and in Data Processing. She loved playing with her cousin Betty Garvin, hiking, sports, reading "everything" including encyclopedias and she enjoyed Pinochle with family. She was an excellent artist and was the artist for the school annual. Gean was a member of her high school Art Club and served as the Secretary and President. Gean is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Jerry) Skaggs of Avon, UT, son, David (Claudia) Fredrickson of Chubbuck, ID, daughter, Debra (Brad) Hollingsworth of Pocatello, ID, daughter, Melanie McNabb of Pocatello, ID; and also her sister, Grace Garvin of Pocatello, ID; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Moroni (Mac) Fredrickson; parents, Raymond Steel Garvin and Mary Elizabeth Fairchild Garvin; brother, George Garvin; sisters, Marian Garvin, Resi McDonald, Verna Baldwin, Raydella Bieker, Lavone Garvin and Mary Ann Gernon. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11 am at the LDS church, 954 E. Walnut St. Pocatello, with a viewing for one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
