Roeena Gayle Jeppesen Peck passed away April 18, 2018 at a local hospital after a heart attack at the age of 87. Gayle was born April 26, 1930 in Thatcher, Idaho to Emily Coombs Jeppesen and Leon Norman Jeppesen. Most of her childhood was spent in Thatcher living with her grandparents David Joshua and Ivy Lucy Coombs. She attended schools in that area as well as Grace, Idaho and graduated from high school in 1948. She met our dad, Dee Merlin Peck, at a dance and decided he was the guy she wanted to marry, and that's exactly what happened on November 22, 1948. They lived most of their married life in Pocatello, Idaho raising 5 lively children.
Mom was a bookkeeper for several years, worked in the parts department of Western Equipment, was a receptionist at a dental office and her last position was at Anesthesia Associates for 12 years. She was a hard worker and a dedicated mother.
Mom and dad enjoyed dancing, bowling, snowmobiling, and golfing together. Mom was a huge sports enthusiast. She absolutely loved ISU women's basketball and their adoptive grandparent club. Dad passed away suddenly at the age of 64 and since mom was so outgoing she looked for things to keep herself busy. Staring a new job at the age of 67 was one of the things she chose to do and she stayed there until she was 79. She became extremely active at the Pocatello Senior Center and also sang with the Silver Chords, which she loved.
She is survived by 3 sisters Georgia Champion, Iva Lou Oliverson (Dave), and Tari (Mario) Poletti; children Paula (Gordon) Hill, Brad (Diane) Peck, Lynnette (Mike) Kirkland, Kim (Vanessa) Peck, and Greg Peck all living in the Pocatello-Chubbuck area; grandchildren Mark (Brenda) Hill, Abby (Jason) Kroll, Joshua (Cassie) Hill, Jordan (Lisa) Hill, Hanna Hill, Kamber (Levi) Spangler, Tayler Peck, Meika (Eric) Price, Kody Kirkland (Gentry), Bradley Tillotson, Lindsay Wingate, Carley Peck and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her best friend and devoted husband Dee, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Road, with a gathering from 11:45am-12:45pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
