Gary Donald Hill, 75, passed away on April 19, 2025.
Gary was the oldest of five children; born to Donald Robert and Pauline (Ostermiller) Hill, on March 20, 1950 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was raised on a farm in Thornton, Idaho and attended school in the Burton and Rexburg area.
Gary met Darla Call and a year later they were married on May 9, 1969 in Rigby Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.
To this union came wonderful children, Shane, Stephanie and Lori. Gary and Darla lived in Idaho Falls, Rigby, and Rexburg before moving to Pocatello and settling in Chubbuck. Gary enjoyed spending time with family. He was always fixing something for someone and would figure out a solution to repair anything (even if the solution was duct tape or glue). He enjoyed being a grandpa (Poppy) to his 14 grandchildren. They enjoyed fishing, golf, sledding, snowmobiling and tea parties with grandpa. He was always a hard worker. He worked at Idaho fresh pack, before starting his 37-year career with the Union Pacific Railroad.
Gary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed the people and friendships built over the years.
Gary is survived by his children, Shane (Lindy) Hill, Stephanie (Brent) Bachmeier, Lori (Jon) Norris; sisters, Patty (Merlin) Wilding, Kathy (Terry) Beemer; brother, Neil (Yvonne) Hill; 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darla, a brother, Kenneth Hill, and his grandparents.
Funeral Services for Gary will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Chubbuck Victor Ward, 4775 Hawthorne Road, with Bishop Paul Hall conducting. A viewing will begin at 10:00 am prior to the services at the church.
