Gary H Blattner

Gary H. Blattner passed away on November 16, 2015 from cancer and heart problems, in Pocatello, ID.

Gary was born on January 18, 1938 in Arco, ID to Stanley C. Blattner and Vivian C. Combe Blattner. He attended school in Arco, Idaho. Joined the Navy in 1955 and returned to Arco in 1959. Gary then went on to Idaho Barber School in Boise, ID and started his first barbering job in Pocatello.

He worked at Ted's Barber Shop until Ted retired and then the shop became "Blattner's Barber Shop" where he finished his career working with his son Garth Blattner.

Gary met and married Sharilyn Reeder on June 15, 1960, in Arco, ID bringing together three children.

Gary was a member of the Arco Atom Buster, the Bannock County Posse, the Bannock Roping Club, and the Pocatello Cutter Association. His interests were Steer Wrestling, Horse Racing both flat track and chariot racing. He has won numerous belt buckles and saddles.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing cards with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Gary is survived by his wife Sharilyn Blattner, his three children, Terri (Ross) Pence, Weston (Mary) Blattner, and Garth (LuKrena Schoonover) Blattner. Grandchildren are Luke (Jen) Pence, Janel (Steven) Sanford, Samantha (Jake) Newbold, Myranda Blattner, Whitney Blattner, and Micquel Blattner, Kylie Schoonover, and Devon Schoonover. Great grandchildren are Hagen, Jailee, Tason, Rugar Pence, Ryker Newbold, and Oakley Sanford. Siblings are Beryl Waters, Claudine (Bill) Dyer, Shirley Giles, and twin brother Garth (Traci) Blattner, Marilyn (Dave) Gardner. He has several nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Stan and Vivian Blattner, brother Lynn, and sister Renea.

The family will receive friends at a gathering from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A short life sketch will be read at 2:00 p.m.
