On February 4th, 2016, Gary Van Horn's work was done here. His spirit was released from his body. He is now exploring and traveling the Universe as he is trucking in heaven. Heaven wouldn't be heaven for Dad without it.
When it came to trucking, Gary was one of the best in the business. And he loved doing it. He worked very hard all of his life, up until the very end. He was a loyal worker for E&R trucking for many years.
However, Gary received a call, sort of an offer you can't refuse. This assignment come with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he had not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. This new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be driving the best semi-trucks unknown to mankind. Lots of good music, laughter and love are a guarantee.
Gary took fashion cues from no one, His signature every day look was all his; a plain pocketed T-shirt designed by the fashion house of Fruit of the Loom.
We want to let Gary (Dad) know that he did a great job and wish him a safe journey. We will remember his smile, his warmth, his energy, his love for life, family and friends. He made a difference in the lives of many.
We invite you to come and join us to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho.
Cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered. His family reminds you that Gary would hope that you will do an unexpected act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name. Any monetary donation may be sent to the Bannock Animal Shelter in his and Sissy's name (Dad's Dog), as this was where he adopted her.
