Gary Brett Humphrey, 61 passed away on Friday, December 03, 2021 at his home.
He was born January 13, 1960 to Gary G. and Shirley Neifert Humphrey in Casper, Wyoming. The family moved to Pocatello in 1967. Gary attended local schools and graduated from Highland High School. At school he was Gary, but at home he was Brett.
Brett was hard working from an early age. From his first job with Bob Barlow – helping with produce deliveries in 5th & 6th grades and then in Jr. High, riding his bike after school from Oriole St. to Pocatello Cold Storage on First St. to work in the ice house for Gordon Ellis. He went on to work construction and became a master truck driver. He retired from J. K. Merrill & Sons, Inc. following an injury while delivering gravel.
Brett married Ginger Olive in July 1983, they were later divorced.
He married Laraela Hanson Knight April 08, 1995, they were together until her death on February 27, 2021.
Brett enjoyed snowmobiling, driving race cars, NASCAR, riding ATV’s and camping in Island Park with Laraela. He had an incredible memory for trivia in most any topic, so he was often referred to as “The Walking Encyclopedia”. He was dubbed “GoGo” by his niece during his racing days at Pocatello Speedway and it stuck forever within the family.
Gary was most proud of the nickname he received from his classmates at Idaho State University in 2014. Earning his Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Aided Design Drafting Technology, he graduated with Highest Honors and received his “Fricken’ Gary” hat with a big smile.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Darla and Troy Burge; his niece Teaira Burge. Laraela’s children and grandchildren - Arizona – Raven – Marissa – Mysty – Vincent – Huxley and Hendrix.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Laraela.
The family would like to thank those that helped him so much; Rose, Deanne, Stefney, Todd and Shayla, you are amazing people that are a gift to those around you. We are definitely blessed to have you in our lives!
We will have an open house and Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. at his sister's home: IndustriAcres, 13290 N. Yellowstone Hwy., Chubbuck, Idaho. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair and visit for awhile.
