Garrie Edwin Gibson at the age of 80, returned home to his Heavenly Father, on December 22, 2016. Garrie was born to Lela and Hunter Gibson on August 25, 1936 in Cedar City, UT. He graduated from Cedar City High School in 1953. His lifelong childhood friends were Bud Garfield, Ron Grimshaw, and Max Maxwell. He served an LDS Mission in North Carolina from 1956 to 1958. Garrie married Jean Kendall of Nottingham England in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple in 1960. Garrie attended the College of Southern Utah while working for Lunt Motor Company. Garrie was employed by Hercules Powder Company in SLC in 1963 and then joined Farmers Insurance which took the family to Pocatello in 1967. Garrie subsequently opened Transmission City in 1969 retiring after 46 years. Garrie obtained a pilots license enabling him to visit his family in Cedar City more often. One of his dreams was to build a P-51 Mustang where he fabricated the various specialized parts. He held many callings in the LDS church enjoying those involving the youth. He purchased a boat out of the desire to spend time with his family, friends, and the church youth. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean Kendall Gibson; daughters, Tracie Montgomery (Gerrad), Angie Brown (Garth) and Heather Jones (Stephen); sisters, CoraLe Bruhn, Vyonne Robinson and Virginia Naegle of Cedar City UT; grandchildren, Todd Shipley of Pocatello ID, Nathan Jones serving in the LDS Kobe Japan Mission, Holly Mitchell of Hugo, OK, and Chelsea Westfall of Nampa, ID. Garrie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Hunter and Lela Gibson; sister, Alene Chamberlain; and grandsons, Jeremy Jones and Michael Shipley. Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at the LDS Princeton Chapel located at 42 Princeton, Pocatello, with a visitation being at the church from 9:30 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
