Frieda Ellen Wickhorst

Freida Ellen Simmons Wickhorst, 99, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at a local care center. She was born on March 22, 1919 in Richfield, Idaho to Ethel May and Elmer James Tabor. Freida attended ISU and got married on July 25, 1939 to Paul D. Simmons. He passed away in 1988 and she then married Howard Wickhorst on April 7, 1990. He also passed away. Freida taught elementary school and worked at ISU in the Administration building. She was active in her church group. Freida enjoyed painting landscapes, doing pottery and gardening. Freida is survived by her sister, Francis Bridgeman, Austin, TX; daughter, Carol P. Simmons Baker, Clifton, ID; son, Jeff D. (Jan) Simmons, Pocatello, ID; step-children, Leonard Wickhorst and Dorothy Wickhorst; daughter-in-law, Kaye Simmons, Beaverton, OR; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Elmer Tabor; husband, Paul D. Simmons (1988); husband, Howard Wickhorst; son, Paul A. Simmons; and brother, Norris Tabor. The family would like to thank the Brookdale of Chubbuck staff and Heritage Hospice for their excellent care given to mom. A Memorial Service will be held, in 2 weeks , on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
