Fred A. Zweigart, age 83, passed away at CHI St. Vincent Hospital on January 23rd, 2020. Fred is survived by his son and daughter in law Fred and Linda Zweigart of Pocatello ID, son and daughter in law William and Linda Zweigart of Inkom ID, daughter and son in law Rick and Shannon Rene of Plano TX, daughter Kurstin Zweigart of Greenwood Village CO 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Brother Stanley and his wife Toni Zweigart and brother Richard and his wife LaRee all of Pocatello ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Zweigart and daughter Teri Lee Zweigart.
Fred was born in Pocatello on November 25, 1937, to Fred and Hazel Zweigart of the old Zweigart Meat Packing Company. As Fred grew up in the family business he worked at every position in the company and was functioning as Secretary Treasurer-Sales Manager up to the time of its closing in 1977. He then was hired on with Iowa Beef Processors, and was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia to open the Southeast Sales Center. After several years, he took a job with Com-Source Food Service in Atlanta and was later promoted to Vice President of the meat department. After many years he retired and built his dream house on Lake Catherine in Hot Springs Arkansas.
He was an avid reader, a student of history and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and landscaping. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and was known to his Family and close friends as “Fritz.” Everyone who met Fritz saw a big strong figure, yet he was so gentle and loving. His family and friends invite you to celebrate the life of a truly great man, Fred A. Zweigart!
Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday September 18, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery gravesite 30W, Row 12, Space 8.
