Fredrick Brown

March 24, 1955 — July 28, 2022

Fredrick Austin Brown, 67, passed away on July 28, 2022. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho living there his entire life. He lived on Rio Vista Road until around age 6, then the family moved to Tyhee, and then to Pocatello. He attended Tyhee Elementary School, Lincoln School, and Highland High School.


Fred worked as a custodian at Pocatello High School for 20 years and was a certified Lock Smith. He never married.


Fred enjoyed making pumpkin pies and pumpkin rolls for Thanksgiving for his family and friends. Starting in October, once the pumpkins were ready, he would harvest them making the pies and rolls from scratch. He even made the whip cream himself. He loved working on cars doing mechanical and electrical repairs. Fred loved people and everyone loved him.

Fred is survived by his sister, Mary (Dennis) Wheelock of Pocatello; niece, Deborah Wheelock of Pocatello; niece, Rebecca (Scott Robinson) Wheelock of Pocatello; niece, Kristina (Shawn) Williams of Pocatello; great nieces, Camry and Katie Burke, Kaloni Williams, and Calli Pease, all of Pocatello; great nephews, Michael and Timothy Pease, and Tyler Williams all of Pocatello; and aunt, Nona Cates of Fort Hall; and several great-great nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Cates Brown; nephew, Jason Wheelock; and grandparents, Fredrick and Maggie Cates.


A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Avenue Pocatello, Idaho.
