Freddie Wayne Matthews

December 31, 1940 — July 3, 2014

Freddie was born on December 31, 1940 to D.L. & Velma Matthews in Fresno California. He and his five brothers and one sister were raised in California and Oregon. At the age of 20 he married the love of is life Sandra Smith. They married on May 20, 1960 and started their life together. They resided in Oregon and in California and eventually retired in Chubbuck, Idaho.

Freddie was a mechanic by trade but could be found wood cutting, welding and all around Fred of all trades. He was a firearm enthusiast and was proud of his knife collection, a day of target practice was the best day of all for him. He loved the outdoors and was always up for a good ATV ride. Wherever Freddie was his little Chihuahua, Buddy was right with him, they made a great team.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, D.L. & Velma Matthews, his daughter Jerri Lynn Matthews and brother Billy Matthews.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Sandra of Chubbuck, children, Penny Matthews of Turlock California, Joseph (Tahna) Matthews of Chubbuck, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home
