Fredrick Paul Lombardi, 68, of Pocatello, Passed away at his home of natural causes March 12, 2013. He was born January 28, 1945 the son of Fred and Mary Lombardi in Pocatello Idaho. He attended Pocatello schools including Bonneville elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1963. After high school he continued his education in an electrical trade school in Salt Lake City. Fred hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and served his apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician. He was employed by the UPRR all of his life and took a medical retirement in 2004. Fred loved fast cars and with some friends built the first rail dragster in Pocatello. The dragster was a collaborated effort amongst his three friends, Dick South, himself, Fred Lombardi and Jerry Bohi, the dragster was named "SoLoBo" after the three builders and won the attention of many local drag enthusiasts. In his spare time, Fred loved to tie flies, and use them fishing. He loved to drive his motorhome to Island Park to the Buffalo campground to go camping with his family. Fred is survived by his brother, David Lombardi, Idaho Falls, sister, Maria (Roby) Oliphant, Pocatello, niece, Aimee Thompsen (Spencer), great-niece, Mary Thompsen, neice, Katie (Kyle) Tackett, and great-nephews, Sawyer and Garrett Tackett. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Huntsman Cancer center in salt Lake City, Utah in memory of Fred Lombardi. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 15, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetery, with Father Reginald officiating. Family will receive friends from 9 until 9:45 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, prior to going to the graveside services.
