Fred J Wise

September 11, 1937 — April 14, 2024

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Fred J. Wise passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

Fred was born September 11, 1937 in Downey Idaho to Velma (Cecil) and Veda Wise. He had 1 brother and 5 sisters. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He spent his entire childhood in Downey, where he was known for his pranks around town. During his junior year of high school, he met the love of his life Bonnie Jean Beck. They were married April 19, 1957 in Downey, Idaho, and they were getting ready to celebrate their 67th wedding Anniversary. Fred and Bonnie were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 28, 2001. They were blessed with 3 children: Rick (Peggy) Wise, Lori (George) Chaney and Mike (Lisa) Wise as well as 9 grandkids and 21 great grandkids. His family was his everything. If he wasn’t wandering around in his yard or on his deck sipping on a soda with his honey, he most likely was at an activity of his grandkids or great grandkids. He rarely missed an activity. His devotion to Bonnie set the best example for his entire family.

Fred was a working man from a very young age and instilled this in his family. He was a meat cutter his entire 50-year career. He worked at Downey IGA, Zweigart’s Meat Packing, Frazier’s Market, The Green Triangle, Buttrey Food Store, and Lou and Dan’s Thriftway. Through work, he formed many lifelong friendships. In December 2001, Fred retired from Lou and Dan’s in Soda Springs, Idaho after working there for 14 years. He commuted to Soda Springs 6 days a week through sun, rain, or snow. They celebrated his retirement with a trip to Disney World. After retirement, Fred and Bonnie served as temple workers for 10 years in the Idaho Falls Temple.

His family is so thankful for the many traditions that Fred and Bonnie established. Those remembered the most are yearly hunting trips for the boys, annual Easter egg hunt, and the annual Christmas Party with homemade ornaments for all.

Fred is proceeded in death by his parents, Cecil and Veda Wise, his brother Don Ray Wise, sisters, Hazel Nielsen, Jean Utley, Darlene Schlange, and Connie Christensen and Great-Grandson Gunner Andersen.

And survived by his loving beautiful wife Bonnie, his sister Arlene Parris, his 3 children, 9 grandkids and 20 great-grandkids.
